The final round of the xray off-road challenge took place at the remote world model car club in slough (near Windsor). First note, well done and thank you to all race organisers who had done a fantastic job once again on running the meeting. There were a total of 91 drivers booked in for this event, another great entry for the new series.

As the series has come to an end, the race for the clubman and expert title is very close indeed and wont be decided till the end of this event. The weather forecast had yet again been given rain but thankfully didn’t and was to stay fine and dry all day, which made for some fast clean racing. Qualifying was again to based on TQ (fastest time) and was to be 1 round of practise and 3 rounds of qualifying.

Round 3 of qualifying and again leaving it to the last round, it was myself to set the pace with a time of 8 laps in 5m 23.33,2 seconds quicker than the TQ time set in round 1, very close behind in 2nd place was matt perry just 1/10th of a second behind, then in 3rd place was tom reynolds again just 2/10ths behind matt, in 4th place was chris rowcliffe just 4/10ths behind tom and to finish the top five in this round was lee taylor a further 3 ½ seconds behind chris, as you can see this round was very close indeed and that’s how the top five looked for the lineup for the A-final.

To the main final of the day and the deciding race for both clubman and expert titles, 1st lap and i had a mistake which let chris rowcliffe go through in 1st place with matt perry, myself and tommy chung following closely behind, by lap 4 matt perry had taken the lead with tommy chung behind in 2nd place.

I had a couple more mistakes which dropped me back to 4th place, lap 8 and the front 2 changed positions and it was tommy chung now leading with matt perry in 2nd, lap 11 and I had got myself back into 3rd place and maintained that position till lap 19 were I took the lead with matt perry right behind in 2nd place and tommy chung now dropping back to 3rd,lap 21 and it was time for my 2nd scheduled fuel stop and as I was exiting the pit lane I had an engine cut, my mechanics were on the ball and got me restarted in no time but to still loose 2 places which put me back to 3rd place with tommy chung in 2nd and matt perry in 1st place, with only 8 laps left, that’s the order in which the top 3 finished.
